This month we put the spotlight on one of our favourite Summer flowers.... Cosmos.
Cosmos are beautiful daisy like flowers that sit atop of long slender, flowing stems. They really epitomise Summer and colour; first blooming in June and then flowering through right until the end of September.
Cosmos come in a variety of colours including pink, white, magenta, burgundy and yellow and can grow to as tall as two metres tall. They are a very versatile wedding flower and can be used in bridal bouquets, urn arrangements, large scale floral installations and table centrepieces.
Did you know....Cosmos are in the same family as Sunflowers, Daisies and Asters and are native to Mexico. Spanish explorers brought the flower from Mexico to Spain in the 16th Century and by 1789 it came to England. It is said that Cosmos in Greek means orderly, beautiful and ornamental. The flower is said to be used to illustrate one's deepest feelings of love, making it perfect for all wedding flower arrangements.
