Mary and Kaho married in late August at the beautiful Bingham in Richmond, Surrey. Situated by the River Thames, The Bingham has superb riverside views and is such a romantic location; perfect for Mary and Kaho's, "English countryside" inspired wedding.
We met Mary over a cup of coffee before the wedding to discuss ideas and designs. Mary's brief was for the flowers to be natural and whimsical. She wished to bring the English countryside in and for the florals to be lush and romantic. Shade wise Mary wanted lots of greenery paired with white tones. She was particularly keen on an injection of grasses to provide texture and contrast.
To achieve Mary's vision we selected beautiful scented garden roses, dancing cosmos, star shaped nicotiana, sumptuous blackberries, flowing ammi, and ruffly zinneas, as well as many other beauties. Oat, fountain and miscanthus grasses added to the meadow feel and gave a lovely flowing movement to the arrangements.
Mary's bridal bouquet was arranged in a loose style and tied with gorgeous hand dyed silk ribbon. Mary's bridesmaids all carried smaller versions of her bouquet and, for the men, we made little hand tied buttonholes tied with twine.
To bring the outdoors in, we created a meadow low table runner which stretched along the ceremony table. To add height and give a natural canopy we created floral arrangements on top of gold stands. Flowers such as scented jasmine and amaranthus cascaded down the sides creating a gorgeous impact.
Here's what the happy couple had to say:
"Laura helped us make our wedding bouquets, button holes, table centerpieces and arrangements, and we couldn't be happier with them! The flowers not only looked lovely but smelled beautiful too, and were arranged in natural, loose flowing shapes that looked beautiful and interesting from every angle. Petal HQ works differently from traditional florists in the sense that they only use seasonal flowers, which might not necessarily be what some people want; but I was so happy to know that my flowers were grown and harvested locally and had a small carbon footprint! At the end of the day, the flowers looked lovely and that's what matters. Laura was helpful and funny and great to chat with. Such a great experience working with her!"
